We are praying that you are all well and surviving the Great Flood of 2016. Our continued prayers for safety are with you all. Our school is fine and has no damage from flooding. For any of our students who are able, St. Mary's Parish Hall is a collection site for donations for displaced families. Also, another need is to assist stocking the shelves of the local food banks. We received a call from Sharon Smith, who is with HOPE Ministries. Sheriff Bud Torres and HOPE are sending out an urgent request for non-perishable food items. Because of all the flooding and great need in East Baton Rouge Parish, Pointe Coupee’s Food Bank may not get supplies this month, and if we do, they will be late. Therefore, they are sending out an urgent request for items for our Food Bank here in the Parish. Items should be brought to HOPE Ministries in the Olinde Shopping Center on Olinde Street from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. each day.
Also, no more items are needed at the Scott Civic Center for evacuees, so they are asking that those donations be stopped. Blessed Mother Teresa urged us to "do small things with great love". We can pray, donate and volunteer at this time to make a huge difference in the lives of others.
