Throughout the year, CHSPC’s Student Council is involved in many activities. We host the Homecoming week activities- This year Monday was "Famous Couples or Groups", Tuesday was "Past Generations", Wednesday was "Opposite Day". We also held a karaoke benefit for cancer and then the PowderPuff Game- Matt Laurent was crowned PowderPuff Queen. Thursday we recieved our Homecoming Shirts. This year's theme was "A Night's Tale-The Last Crusade". Friday was the Homecoming Mass. Friday was also the Homecoming Game the Homecoming Queen, Alaina Chutz, was crowned during half-time. The Hornets were victorious against Westminister 35-28.
We also set up Mass and Sadie Hawkins dances each year, as well as conduct numerous community service projects. In the past we have done things, such as: hold coat drives, distribute food to the needy people of our area, and raise funds for Systic Fibrosis. Two years ago we hosted a Centiennial Dance to celebrate the 100th year of our school. We have also donated much time to the youth of our community.
Last year's CHSPC Student Council worked hard to help the victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in anyway possible. The tradgety hit so close to home, that we were able to help without even leaving our community. We, along with the school body, welcomed the new commers with opened arms. We saw many students come and go, and each one touched us in some way- making us want to strive harder to get our help to those who are in need.
This year CHSPC Student Council once again plans to attend the Louisiana Association of Student Council’s Convention (LASC). Over the summer several students were also sent to the Louisiana Youth Seminar (LYS), which was held in Baton Rouge.
This year’s Student Council hopes to be just as involved and dedicated as they have been in previous years. Much credit and thanks goes to the Student Council Sponsor, Mrs. Colleen Caillet. She has been dedicated to CHSPC’s Student Council program for 21 years and has done an excellent job!
