Catholic Elementary of Pointe Coupee 5th graders once again reached out to those in need this Christmas season. Fifth Graders held a school-wide bake sale to raise their own money to purchase Christmas presents for children this year. With the organizational help of Catholic's Home and School Association, Mrs. Bonaventure, and Mrs. Debetaz, fifth graders worked all day long and were able to raise over $750! Other generous donations from parents, students, and faculty brought in $1,000, for a total of $1,755, which enabled them to help 26 needy children from 12 families this Christmas.
Students helped their parents shop for warm clothes, coats, shoes, bedding, pajamas and toys for the neediest children in the parish. The students then wrapped the presents themselves.
The students would like to thank everyone who helped them this year. It is only through your continured support that Catholic Elementary's fifth grade class has sponsored this wonderful project for 7 years.
